Hi All,
Just a few lines to let you know how the weekend went,
in Hayling Island (UK), Where the CSG stand was at
the Festival of Fish-keeping run by the F.B.A.S (Federation
of British Aquarists) and manned by myself, Ian Fuller
and Brian Walsh.
The festival was held at the Mill Rthye holiday camp,
and covered three large heated marquees, the CSG stand
was situated in the middle marquee, a third of the
way down, and next to the Tetra stand.
Although the stand was taken there last year, this
year in addition to taking the stand, we put on a
exhibition of small catfish, this consisted of 36
tanks 32 of which contained various Corydoradinae
and 4 tanks of Asian hill stream catfish, which seemed
to go down, well not only with the organisers, but
with the visiting public as well.
Hats off must go to Brian as he did all the driving,
after setting off from his home on Friday morning
at 9.30am, picking myself and Ian up along the way,
and then stopping for 30mins for tea, we eventually
arrived at 6.40pm, and although we were all a bit
weary, especially Brian from the journey we took to
the task of setting the stand and exhibition up.
I have to give a special thanks to the guy’s
and girl’s from the company “R.O. Man”,
who kindly supplied, without charge! not only ourselves
but quite a few exhibitioners with water, ranging
in specifics; from pure R.O. water to water mixed
to a specific request, as and when required over the
long weekend. Again on behalf of the CSG, many thanks
to the Guy’s and girls at “R.O. Man”,
and also thanks must go to Paul Fox who lent a hand
wherever it was needed.
Overall the weekend was well supported and Brian,
Ian and myself was kept busy not only advising people
on the husbandry of the fish exhibited, but on all
matters of fish keeping, including breeding and feeding;
and we even gained a few new members. Ian and myself
also entered a couple of fish in “The Hagen
Masters” tropical fish show, Ian gained three
firsts while I only managed a second; mind you my
second got a gold medal, as it got 90/100 pts.
Hopefully the CSG will be invited back next year,
and I can go one better.
P.S. Don't forget this Sunday’s meeting
in Darwen. 15th Oct.
